My Recent Bout with Environmental Illness

Late last summer, I was exposed to Legionella bacteria while attending a basketball camp for old people (35-70). The athletic and trainer’s facilities where we played and recovered were likely as up-to-date and clean as they come in the world. Unfortunately, no facility is immune from ubiquitous and opportunistic microbial pathogens that simply follow the water. The following article was published late last year. It documents my experience with Legionnaires disease. While uncommon, outbreaks like the one I was exposed have occurred all over the country.
Legionnaires symptoms are very similar to those resulting from mold, mycotoxins, and bacteria. While they lasted for a couple weeks, I clearly understand the enormity of environmental illness debilitation. I sincerely empathize with those who suffer these symptoms indefinitely.
